1. WRITE A LIST
If you have a million things spinning around your mind, jot them down even if it’s in the middle of the night…..in fact, especially if it’s the middle of the night. Planning ahead helps you see realistically what you need to do and allows you to take a methodical approach. Ensure you add at least one item you have already done that you can cross off and feel smug!
Pick one pending item and complete it. Seems obvious but do you often find yourself half doing 10 things rather than finishing one thing properly? Of course you may be waiting on someone else’s response or input to complete the job so to take it to your end point and then move on.
That’s right – get someone else to do it! Are you terrible at asking for help? Most of us get a kick out of helping someone else and yet, when it comes to making the call ourselves we feel we are imposing. Ask for assistance, show your gratitude and it’s a win, win situation.
4. WAKE UP EARLIER
Ah, the tick of the clock, that ever-present reminder of life’s most valuable commodity: time. It’s amazing how much you can achieve before breakfast when the rest of the world is quiet(er). Give yourself an extra half an hour in the morning when your head isn’t yet full from the events of the day to get a job done.
Avoid creating unnecessary pressure on yourself by agreeing to do everything everyone asks of you. Be polite but firm. No big excuses are required if you are honest up front. It is empowering and you just gave yourself the time to do something you need to do.
